Types of ThanasiWit® use and recommendations in pure spruce plantations:

• Attract ant nests to (processed) beetle nests and log yards to reduce the bark beetle population. ThanasiWit® dispensers are freely placed at the target location, for example at the edge of a beetle pit or on a wood pile protected from the elements (e.g., using Thanasiwit®-Protect). Attracting beneficial insects should also help reduce further infestation of healthy trees by bark beetles.
• To avoid by-catch in pheromone traps. When using pheromone traps, it often happens that Thanasimus species are also attracted and caught. Unfortunately, these beneficial insects are then no longer present in the forest. By using Thanasivit in a targeted manner, beneficial insects can be directed in another direction, allowing them to avoid being caught and continue to act as beneficial insects. Tanasivit® is freely placed in a specific location (recommended location: 2-7 m into the stand, i.e. from the forest edge deep into the forest), protected from bad weather.
