Pheromone baits are ideal for reducing the number of harmful moths and beetles in your crops.Pest biology:
Pest: Cherry fruit fly
Latin name: Rhagoletis cerasi
Occurrence: CherrySet includes:
- 2 pre-glued trap bodies (WitaTrap® trap),
- 2 pheromones (packed separately!),
ATTENTION: do not open the screw-cap pheromone bottle cap!- Hanging wire and detailed instructions.
Main symptoms:
- In the stem area of infected fruit there is a brownish discolored spot.
- rotten, soft flesh around the pit
- white, elongated larva
Flight period: approximately from the beginning of May to June (flight).
Use:
Assemble the trap and hang it on a branch in the upper third of the tree crown. Experience shows that the ripening process starts earlier on the southern side, in the upper third of the crown. Therefore, at the beginning of the flight period the trap should be placed outdoors (in a sunny location). The number of sticky traps depends on the size of the tree (2-10 pcs.). Make sure that there are no branches or leaves on the outward-facing sticky surface. Each trap must be checked every 2–3 days. Each time the trap is checked, the adhesive surface must be cleaned of stuck insects, using an auxiliary tool if necessary (for example, a branch, a wooden spatula), in order to preserve the entire adhesive surface.
The trap must be hung before the moths emerge.
